Living the new spiritual awareness is a matter of passing through a series of steps or revelations.

  • Each step broadens our perspective.  But each step also presents its own set of challenges.
  • It is not enough to merely glimpse each level of expanded awareness.  We must intend to live it, to integrate each increased degree of awareness into our daily routine.

Examine these steps not just in terms of inner experience but from the perspective of holding them firm in our lives and putting them into effective practice.

  • It only takes one negative interpretation to stop everything.

Our new spiritual awareness is all about actualizing dreams, an experience that has always been at the heart of human striving everywhere.

  • The universe truly seems to be set up as a platform for the actualization of our deepest and most heartfelt aspirations.
  • It is a dynamic system propelled by nothing less than the constant flow of small miracles.
  • But there is a catch.  The universe is built to respond to our consciousness, but it will give back to us only the level of quality that we put in.
  • Therefore, the process of discovering who we are, what we are here to do, and learning to follow the mysterious coincidences that can guide us is dependent, to a great extent, on our ability to stay positive and to find the silver lining in all events.

What divine force seems to be pulling us toward our destiny?

  • Positive religious perspective contains an important part of the truth that is critical to our ongoing evolution toward a better overall spiritual understanding.
  • Consciousness of the way the divine operates in our lives.
  • All major religions share the notion of being responsive to the will of God.
  • To put it differently, all are concerned with our growth toward unity with a Godhead or coming into communion with the creative force behind the human condition.
    • Perception or experience of our connection with this divine force
    • They just had no words with which to express it.

We are collectively realizing the importance of shared spiritual awareness and discussion.

  • More and more of us in organized religions are realizing that our perception of synchronicity represents an extension and clarification of the best of our religious traditions.
  • The perception is direct evidence of a divine force active in our lives, a divine force that our intuition and faith have always told us was there.

Existence of an inner mystical encounter can be experienced individually

  • Affirm the existence of inner transformation.

The idea of a personal transcendent experience (variously called enlightenment, nirvana, satori, transcendence, and cosmic consciousness) has reached a significant level of acceptance

  • It has become an integral part of our new spiritual awareness.
  • We have, as a culture, begun to accept mystical encounters as something real and available to all human beings.
  • We may have our own abstract spiritual ideas, such concepts as communion with God, seeking the kingdom within, and being born again.
  • Inner, transcendent experience is something that really happens to real people.

The inner, transformative encounter can occur in many ways, along many paths.

  • What is important is not the particular religion, practice, or activity that leads us there, but the heightened, mystical perception that is the destination.
  • It is the experience itself that expands our awareness and imbues us with a sense of security, well-being, and clarity undreamed of before it occurs.

Many forms of dance bring us out of our ordinary consciousness and connect us with a higher spiritual awareness within.

  • We seem to be the dance, expressing an inner aspect of our being that feels like a higher self.
  • The martial arts conceive these experiences in terms of cultivating a higher degree of spiritual energy and using it in the act of movement and feats of strength.

Prayer and meditation, two of the most traditional pathways, often lead to the experience of inner transformation.

  • Every major religion in the world uses one of these forms of communication with the divine.
  • When we pray, we call upon a divine creator or force for some reason
    • We ask help, guidance, or forgiveness in an active sense.
    • We have something in mind that we want.
    • But we also pray for the pure experience of communion or connection.
  • Prayer is very similar to meditation – it calms the mind, pushes away the chatter of the ego, reaches out for a higher connection.
  • Both active prayer and meditation can lead to an inner transformative experience, where our connection to the divine is perceived in an ecstatic manner of being one with the whole of the universe.
