Mindfulness meditation is all about paying attention
- There is nothing magical or mystical about it
- We don’t indulge in this in any specific way because we are not exposed to it
Paying attention on PURPOSE
- Voluntary intentional attending
- To the unfolding experience of the present moment
- Non-judgmentally
We have a “hit” on practically anything.
- Either we like something (pleasant) or dislike it (unpleasant), or we are neutral.

Notice what you look at when you walk down the street.
- What do you think is attractive where you have a special sort of energy?
- Who are the others who are meaningless to you? (tuned out)
This type of attention is an opening up of the field of awareness to entertain the entire field of you experience inwardly moment to moment.
- Clock out some real alone time to attend to what that is as your life unfolds moment to moment
What every comes up is OK
- Common misconception that meditation is synonymous to relaxation and that you are supposed to feel better when you finish.
- Relaxation, calmness and stability of mind do
come with the cultivation of meditative practice
- They come most powerfully and reliably when you are not trying to get there.
- Let things be and unfold
- Don’t like, edit, suppress or judge things
Entertain the notion that this moment is whole and complete as it is
- Even if we are in a great deal of pain, when things are going wrong or when we are in trouble.
- Be with things as they are in this moment because this is it; in my life in this moment.
- Hold it even if its just a story-line in your mind
