ICRAVE Important Decisions

The word decision comes from the Latin root meaning “to cut off from.”  Saying “yes” to one thing means saying “no” to another.  That’s why decision can be hard sometimes

  • Principles are natural laws.  Examples are honesty, hard work, respect, service, focus, patience, responsibility, love renewal, choice, and justice.
  • Whenever you have a job to do ask yourself two question.  If not now, when?  If not by me, by whom?
  • Focus on what you can influence.
  • Simplify – Do a few things with excellence instead of many things with mediocrity.
  • The primary purpose of going to college isn’t to get a great job.  The primary purpose of college is to build a strong mind, which leads to greater self-awareness, capability, fulfillment, and service opportunities, which, incidentally, should lead to a better job.
  • You can only become truly accomplished at something you love.  Don’t make money your goal.  Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you.
  • Become aware of what really gets your juices flowing.
  • Your mind truly is a phenomenal thing.  Don’t waste it.  Educate it.

Free will is your birthright.  You can turn it on instantly!

  • Ultimately, you can choose to be happy or miserable.
  • At any moment, you can choose to start showing more respect for you self or stop hanging out with friends who bring you down.

What kind of friends do you have?

  • The ultimate test is: Are you a better person when you’re around them?

Proactive people carry the remote control to their lives.  They choose their channel or mood.  Reactive people allow other people or things to control them, as if they’ve given their remote to other people or things that can change their moods at the push of a button.  They allow a rude comment by a friend to ruin their whole day.

Next to life itself, the power to choose is your greatest gift.  And if you become addicted to something, you give up your power to choose – your freedom.

  • You become the slave and the addiction becomes your master.
  • No one ever start out thinking, I can’t wait to become an addict.  You do it because you have a deeper need that is not being met.

If you are ever confused about what to do, follow your conscience, that intuition or gut instinct inside you.
