Creativity is the relationship between a human being and the mysteries of inspiration.
Do you have the courage to bring forth the treasures that are hidden within you?
- Something wonderful is sheltered inside of you. We are all walking repositories of buried treasure.
- I believe this is one of the most oldest and generous trick the universe plays on us human beings, both for its own amusement and ours.
- The universe buries strange jewels deep within us all and then stands back to see if we can ever find them.
While the outcomes of creative living will vary wildly from person to person, a creative life is an amplified life.
- It’s a bigger life, a happier life.
- It’s an expanded and more interesting life.
- Living in this manner continually and stubbornly, bringing forth the jewels that are hidden within you is a fine art in it of itself.
Most people who have never had enough time, resources, support, patronage, or reward, still persist in creating.
- They persist because they care and are called to be makers by any means necessary.
- Money helps for sure, but if money were the only thing people needed to live creative lives, then the mega rich would be the most imaginative and original thinkers among us and they simply are not.
The essential ingredients remain the same for everybody – courage, enchantment, mission, persistence, trust.
- Those elements are universally accessible, which does not mean creative living is always easy; it merely means that creative living is always possible.

Have an affair. Why do people persist in creating even when it’s difficult, inconvenient, and often financially unrewarding?
- They persist because they are in love.
- They persist because they are hot for their vocation.
You know how people who are having an extra marital affairs always seem to manage to find time to see each other to have wild transgressive sex?
- It doesn’t seem to matter if those people have full time jobs and families at home to support.
- They seem to manage to always find time to sneak out and see their lover, no matter what the difficulties, risks, and costs.
- Even if they only get 15 minutes together in a stairwell, they will take that time and will make-out with each other like crazy.
- If anything, the fact that they only have 15 minutes together somehow makes it all even hotter.
- When people are having an affair, they don’t mind losing sleep or missing meals.
- They will make whatever sacrifices they have to make and they well blast through any obstacle in order to be alone with the object of their devotion and obsession, because it matters to them.
- Let yourself fall in love with your creativity like that and see what happens.
Stop treating your creativity like it’s a tired old unhappy marriage – the grind and the drag – and start regarding it with the fresh eyes of a passionate lover.
- Even if you have only 15 minutes a day in a stairwell alone with your creativity, take it.
- Go hide in that stairwell and make out with your art.
- You can get a lot of making out done in 15 minutes.
- Sneak off and have an affair with your most creative self.
- Lie to everyone about where you are actually going on your lunch break.
- Pretend you are traveling on a business trip when secretly you are retreating.
- Conceal it from your family and friends, whatever you are up to.
- Slip away from everyone else at the party and go off to dance alone with your ideas in the dark.
- Wake yourself up in the middle of the night in order to be alone with your inspiration while nobody is watching.
- You don’t need that sleep right now; you can give it up.
What else are you willing to give up in order to be alone with your beloved?
- Don’t think of it all as burdensome, think of it all as sexy.
- Also, try to present yourself to your creativity as if you are sexy.
- As if you are somebody worth spending time with.
