Meditation is the act of holding a conscious awareness that is entirely absent of thought.
- The practice so many of us perceive to be meditation is actually the practice of concentration.
Concentration, and eventually meditation, fosters our ability to focus more deeply on each individual moment. The practice consists of giving the mind one thing to focus on instead of the many thousands of other things flitting in and out throughout the day. Building a greater sense of concentration not only will help to bring greater balance to the mind and body, but it also will play a significant role in improving our competence and contentment in any task we try to accomplish.

Technique for emptying your mind during meditation.
People usually struggle the most with is staying focused – there is always too much to think about.
So what if instead of forcing yourself to clear your mind, you simply visualized your thoughts sliding away? Don’t resist your thoughts, just accept them and move them outside of your awareness.
Call this the “river technique”. Let your thoughts drift away like water in a river: you become aware of them, but you also see them coming and going, until all that remains is our true unconditional self.
Keep in mind that meditation should be seen as a way to train your mind, and not only as a way to relax and experience inner peace. When you meditate, you should strive to control your thoughts. Then, you’ll start to notice your self-control, awareness and intuition start to improve as well.
When you control your thoughts, you are able to direct your attentions towards positive feelings and emotions.
When you accomplish this, you attract incredible gifts into your life. Gifts such as the gift of unconditional love, unconditional affection, and safety.
