ICRAVE The Beatitudes

The Beatitudes describe the blessedness of those who have certain qualities or experiences peculiar to those belonging to the Kingdom of Heaven.

  • They are the laws that Jesus gave us.
  • They contain all of Christ’s Gospels.
  • They are the essence of Jesus, his way of life.
  • They are the path of true happiness, which we too can travel with the grace that Jesus gives us.
  • Blessed means happy.
  • The logic of being more must prevail to the logic of having more.

Meekness is a way of life, and living meekly brings us closer to Jesus and to one another.

  • It allows us to set aside everything that divides us and to find every new way of advancing along the path of unity.
  • The saints bring about change through their meekness of heart.
  • With meekness we understand God’s greatness and we worship him with full and sincere hearts, for meekness is the attitude for those who have nothing to lose.  Their only wealth is God.
  • The virtue of meekness has fallen a little out of fashion these days. There are many enemies of meekness, such as gossip.
  • Humility and meekness are the mainstay of a Christian life.  A Christian always strives for humility and meekness.

Jesus is always waiting for us, ready to forgive us.

  • Be Merciful, so that you too can be forgiven.
  • Blessed are the merciful because they will be shown mercy.  We are talking about those who forgive, who understand other people’s mistakes.

A pure heart is a heart that knows how to love.  Heart means your ability to love.

  • This refers to those who have a fresh, pure, simple heart. A heart that knows how to love with a beautiful kind of purity.
  • We can also say that it is with heart that we see God.  This is because the heart sums up the unity of body and soul.  It defines a human’s ability to love and be loved in return.

We must convince ourselves, despite every appearance to the contrary that harmony is always possible on every level and in every situation.

  • There is no future without wishes and plans for peace.
  • There is no future without peace.

Make strong and radical choices.  Trusting in the faith of the Lord is a choice that we can make in our Christian lives.  It’s a great and difficult decision.

  • How many people have been and are being persecuted for justice?  We read about the lives of martyrs and read the news about the persecution of Christians today.
  • Let us think about our brothers and sisters who find themselves in extremes situations and who choose to trust in the Lord.
    • They live in our times.  They are an example to us.
    • They encourage us to offer the church our whole livelihood.
